Alicia Maria Hodgson, also known as Ms. Maria and Teacher Maria; passed away unexpectedly on August 7, 2022, at the age of 77 of natural causes. Maria loved her family and spent her last days with her youngest daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
Maria graduated from Cristobal Colon High School in Bluefields, Nicaragua. Shortly after, she moved to Waspan, known as Region Autonoma Norte, to continue her education, receiving her certificate as a School Teacher.
After graduating, Maria pursued her passion as a School Teacher. Maria taught at Moravian Elementary, Saint Mark's High School, and Horacio Hodgson Elementary School in Old Bank.
As a Teacher in the classroom, Maria inspired her students to advance their education. Maria had helped numerous students obtain scholarships and study abroad. Maria retired after 50 years of service as a School Teacher.
Left to cherish her memories are her four children: Maxine, Karla, Alberto, and Shera; Grandchildren: Dwight Guthridge, Amber Lambright, Melissa and Yamil Espinoza, Carlos Jr. & Aleysha Aquilar, and her youngest sister Myrna Thomas. She also had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces & nephews, and a host of friends.
Maria was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Josephine Hodgson; sisters Emily Hodgson and Nydia Hodgson.
All who knew Maria felt blessed by her peaceful and loving spirit. Her generous and wise ways, her wit, and her sense of humor.
