Etienne Saint-Louis Joachim
Saint-Louis, as he was known affectionately by his family and friends, was a Haitian businessman, father, and husband who passed away on March 16th, 2025 in Fort Lauderdale. He died of diabetes-related complications in Fort Lauderdale, just a month shy of his 78th birthday.
He was born on April 18, 1947 in the municipality of Poteaux, in the countryside of Gonaives, the 4th largest city in Haiti. He went to primary school at L'Ecole Nationale de Poteaux. He went to the Lycee Fabres Geffrard in Gonaives for secondary schooling.
Etienne was a jack of all trades who primarily specialized in agriculture. He worked for the Ministry of Agriculture from 1974 to 2007. Upon his retirement, he became an entrepreneur in various fields including construction, real estate, and continued a legacy of respect and admiration in his hometown of Gonaives. He lived a life of generosity and laughter, kindness and love for his family, and care for the less fortunate.
He is survived by his loving wife, Saintana Joachim, and his five children Feguens Joachim, Kerlouche Joachim, Louis-Kerboy Joachim, Tanael Joachim, and Carl-Ezri Joachim.
