Hazel Henry Obituary

Hazel Elaine Henry was born on Tuesday, April 20, 1949, in St. Andrew,
Jamaica, to Lilian Constance Butler and Aston Luther Henry. Hazel, who
was the last born of three siblings, attended school in Clarendon, Jamaica.
In the 1970’s she emigrated from Jamaica to Brooklyn, New York. In New
York she gave birth to her son Omar.

Smart and hardworking, Hazel gained employment at a bank in Brooklyn,
New York until her relocation to Jacksonville, Florida in the early eighties.
In Florida, Hazel worked in a bank and a lab until she found her true calling
as classroom staff in the Broward County Public Schools for over 20 years.
Hazel loved attending church, and cherished spending time with her
granddaughter, Joslynn. She was also a talented creative artist who loved
sewing and decorating for events.

Noteworthy, was Hazel’s big heart and genuine desire to help others
throughout her life, especially her church family. With a strong will, 
Hazel fought until the end despite challenges associated
with her health. When her time with us was up, on Friday, August 19th,
2022, Hazel walked peacefully and proudly into the afterlife. She was
predeceased by her parents, brother Ozwald and half-brother Anthony.
Hazel, leaves to cherish her memory, her son; Omar; daughter in law;
Jenise; granddaughter; Joslynn; Sisters; Velma, Pearl; Half-sisters;
Rosemarie, and Patricia; nieces; Audrey, Terri, Karen, Carlene, Suzette,
Paulette, Michelle and Temeka; nephews; Wayne, Shawn, Donovan, Tian
and Mark; and a host of many cousins and other family members. Hazel
will fondly be remembered and missed much by all who knew her. God
bless and may she Rest in Peace.
