Jean Emeril Merlin

Jean passed away at Broward Health Hospital after collapsing at work on September 4, 2021, at 62 years old.

Early Life:

Jean was born in Laval, Haiti on December 17, 1959. His parents: Ethes Merlin and Lena Masena. Jean went on to live with his grand mother and aunt until he moved in with his step-mother Genevieve Merlin at the age of 11. As a child, Jean attended Panel Luxima and College Soeur Myrtha elementary school in, Gabion, Les Cayes, Haiti until 1973.

Schooling:

Following his elementary school, Jean attended College St-Fort to complete his high school diploma. He aspired to become an electrician and began his professional studies at Ecole Professionelle Canadeau.  In 1985, Jean left Haiti bound for Miami to begin a new life.

What made him Special:

Jean has always been a hard worker and witted individual. Soon after arriving in the US at the age of 24, he began working; purchased his first car, and a few years later, purchased his house. In 1992, he met the love of his life, his first born, Tracy Vil. Tracy, was a testament of the type of individual Jean was. A dedicated father who did all he can as a single dad for many years to provide for his child.

His second love came when Joshua Merlin was born in 2009. Josh saw him as not only his dad but his best friend. Jean was very reserved and quiet person but his actions for his loved ones spoke volumes. He was an amazing father who made his children the center of his world.
