Josephine De La Cruz Henderson was born on December 21, 1957 to Louise Jenrette De La Cruz and Nicholas De La Cruz, Sr. (both preceded her in death). Josephine loved and modeled herself after her loving grandmother, Estebania De La Cruz “Mama”; whom also preceded her in death.
Josephine, affectionately known as “Mommy” to her children and grandchildren; and “Fina” to the ones she held closest to her heart; exuded the epitome of love and understanding. She left an unforgettable and lasting impression on whoever had the blessing of being graced with her presence.
Josephine De La Cruz Henderson attended Miami Jackson Sr. High School class of 1976 where she was a member of “The Miami Jackson General’s Marching Band.” She played the Clarinet. She went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree in the Medical Field. She also received a certification for Medical Assisting. She utilized her credentials to briefly explore a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
At the tender age of 15; she met the love of her life, Thomas Edward Henderson; whom preceded her in death. They were married on January 15, 1974. Out of this union came the products of their undying love for each other: Thomas Edward Henderson II. (Whom preceded her in death), Laketha Liway Henderson “China Baby”, Shannon Thomasinea Henderson “Shan Baby”, Kwanza Shajuan Henderson “Baby Son”, and Kuanza Shajuan Henderson “Baby Boy.”
