Leatha Gillion Johnson Obituary

Leatha Mae Gillion Johnson, affectionately known as "Spal", was the knee baby of the late Ozzie Lee Gillion, Sr. and Lue Willie Gillion, born on May 14th, 1951, In Deerfield Beach Florida.  Leatha was a God fearing, kindhearted, charitable, funny, convinced, strong willed, hardworking, reliable Mother, Sister daughter, Auntie cousin, friend, mentor and listening ear to all.  Preceding her in death; her beloved husband: Edward James (Squirrel) Johnson, Sr. and her eldest son: Adrian Demarsha Johnson, Sr.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children, Edward James Johnson, Jr. (Latosha), Winifred Johnson Harper (Justin), Jaleesa Johnson, Daughter-in-law Monique Johnson, and bonus son Lorenzo Tillman (Ashley).

Leatha attended school in Broward County until she graduated; then obtained a job with Broward County Schools until she retired in 2012, she loved the kids, and she loved her job. There aren’t many in Broward County who she has not impacted in some way or form. Everywhere she went, she made a connection with the children; she was a lover of children and cherished all those friendships she made over the years. Leatha was a, member and accepted Christ as her Lord and savior at House of Prayer now New Beginning Christian Center at a young age. Where she was a youth leader and Sunday School teacher until relocating to Atlanta Georgia, where she became a faithful member of World Changers Church International until her departure from this world.

God was always the head of her life, even when she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in 2016, her faith in God made others stronger. We know she will hear “Well Done, My Good and Faithful Servant”

Leatha was preceded in death by her siblings Henry Gillion (Laura Mae), Winnie Gillion (Ulysses), Thomas Gillion, and Eugene Solomon. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her siblings Mattie Bell Hargrett (preceded in death Eston Joe) Fort Lauderdale Fl, Johnny Banks (preceded in death Geraldine), Deerfield Beach, Fl, Deaconess Katie Garcia, Darien GA, Albert Lee Gillion (Deloris), Valdosta, GA, James Gillion, Ocala Fl, Willie Bell Shiver (Charles), Deerfield Beach Fl, Ozzie Lee Gillion, Jr. (Fannie Lee), Deerfield Beach Fl, Eddie Gillion (Lee) Deerfield Beach Fl, and Lillie Gillion Darien Ga. Fifteen grandchildren that will cherish her forever, Za’Naya, Messiah Joi, Adrian Jr., Alexis, Sharvesa, Keisha, Iesha, JaQuanda, Ja’Vonte, JaQuan, Edward Jr., Janessa, Jayden, Nevaeh. Six great grands; and host of nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.
