Pawsy Gilchrist

Pawsy Lee Electcher Gilchrist was born on October 23, 1945 in Miami, Florida to the late James Robert Delancy and June Whitehurst.

She is the sister to the late Joseph Whitehurst and Jelder Whitehurst on her mother’s side, and sister to (11) half siblings on her father’s side.  Pawsy attended primary and secondary school in Miami where she graduated from what was then Mays High School in 1961. Shortly after, Pawsy pursued modeling jobs at a local retail store in Homestead, Florida.  She would later go on to marry the late Hariles Gilchrist in 1963 and became a homemaker. 

Pawsy leaves to mourn: Daughters: Bular G. White and Tonja G. Smith; Son: Hariles A. Gilchrist;  Sons-In-Law: Charles E. White and Anthony J. Smith; and Daughter-In-Law: Adriana Gilchrist; Grandchildren: Charles E. White, II, Cedrick J. White, Chauntae E. White, Keyshawn D. White, Erica Gilchrist, Alexandria Gilchrist, and Jacob Gilchrist; Great Grandchildren: Shykerria Payton, Traequan White, Savannah White, Devin White, Trinity White, Essence Henry, Jah Henry, Eli Vanderpool; Great Grand Daughter-In-Law: Megan White; Great Great Granddaughter: Gianna White and a host of beloved relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her Sister-In-Law: Erma Whitehurst.

Pawsy adored spending time at home with her family and shared such a beautiful bond with her grandchildren whom she spent most of her time raising.  The nourishing love she provided will never be broken nor will it be forgotten. Thank you for being a STRONG WOMAN MOTHER!
