It’s with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Raymond J. Purcell 82. (1943-2025) on March 13, 2025 After a long illness and a short stay at John Knox Hospice, in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Born to Cornelius Purcell and Mary Purcell (Walsh) in the city of Manhattan NY.
He is predeceased by his parents and younger brother Junior. His only living relative is his cousin, Peter Callahan of Stamford CT.
Ray was an honest and trustworthy individual who could be blunt at times but was a great friend and a big heart to all that knew him. You definitely knew where you stood with Ray and he would always be there for you if needed.
He was a graduate from the University of Dayton in Ohio. After graduating from Dayton, he relocated to Chester Pennsylvania. He became a principle, and taught both Junior and High School students until he relocated to the Ft Lauderdale/Wilton Manors area over thirty years ago. Once in Florida, he was a Realtor and worked for two seperate Yachting companies, as their Financial Accountant and Controller up until his retirement.
Ray lived a quiet life and was also an avid dog lover to Samantha and most recently Skipper. They played a large role in his life.
He will also be missed by a number of friends in the South Florida area. Ray requested to be cremated by Broward Funeral Choices with no viewing or funeral . Feel free to donate to the John Knox Hospice in Pompano Beach on his behalf.
