Remembering You, Always
Mrs. Verdene Ward, adoringly known as “Geechee” was born on March 25, 1950, to the Late Mary Ann Woodard and Thomas Brown in Blakely, Georgia. She was the second of fifteen siblings. Under the care of her Grand Parents, The Great Leila Mae and Wakefield Smith in Miami, Florida, Verdene accepted Jesus Christ into her life at an early age. Verdene received her formal education in Dade County Pub-lic Schools. After high school, she worked as an X-Ray Technician at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
In the year 1965, she met the love of her life, Mr. Gary Ward Sr. They entered the bond of Holy Matrimony on May 26, 1970, in Donaldsonville, Ga. From this union, four children were born. With strength, perseverance, courage, and patience they built a foundation. Verdene truly loved and valued life. She put GOD and Family at the highest of her priorities. She loved cooking, shopping, traveling, and fishing. Verdene was a loving, wise, loyal, selfless, intelligent, exuber-ant, and compassionate woman and a phenomenal Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Grand Mother, and Confidant she grew on the hearts of many people whom she encountered.
On the Evening of Sunday, December 5, 2021, she transitioned to Eternal Glory.
